Catalyst Chamber exists because most of the information about environmental testing online is written by people trying to sell you something. Manufacturer documentation tells you what their chambers can do. Sales literature tells you what you want to hear. Standards documents tell you what conditions to apply but not why those conditions matter or what failure mode they are designed to find.

This publication fills that gap. Every article is built directly from primary sources — the standards themselves (IEC, JEDEC, ASTM, MIL-STD, ISO, ICH), published manufacturer specifications, and documented test methodologies — rather than summarised secondhand from other websites. We are not practising reliability engineers. We are careful researchers who read the standard before writing about it, verify manufacturer claims against their published datasheets, and flag where a specification is ambiguous rather than papering over the gap.

What makes this different

Every claim is falsifiable and sourced. If we say that ASTM B117 salt spray does not correlate well to real-world atmospheric corrosion, we explain the mechanism — wet-dry cycling, galvanic coupling, UV interaction — and point to the standard and the research behind it, not just our own assertion.

Sponsored content and directory placements exist on this site, and they are always clearly labelled as such — we do not sell editorial coverage, and no manufacturer relationship changes what an article says about that manufacturer's chamber. The only interest served by the editorial content itself is the reader trying to understand a standard, choose a chamber, or design a test programme without getting it wrong.

Every standards reference links to the issuing organisation: IEC, ISO, JEDEC, ASTM International, SAE International, RTCA. We summarise standards to help engineers understand what they require. To run a test, obtain the standard from its issuing body.

If anything is technically incorrect, we want to know. We are not engineers running these tests ourselves — we are relying on getting the standards and specifications right, and an engineer using this site to make a real decision deserves an accurate source.
